Fotobokfestival Oslo, Norway

At the end of August, Apian will stop in Oslo for a show at Gamle Munch’s Museum during the 2023 Fotobokfestival. This year’s festival focus is on index and photography’s role in classifying and archiving.

Apian will present a few different works which tackle the question of the archive and the role of ethnographic data in our practice. The show will include the sound piece Hiss, made in collaboration with Laurent Güdel and Souaf Hassan, and also Hives 2400 B.C.E. – 1852 C.E., a visual history of the beehive which includes an essay co-written with the visual anthropologist Ellen Lapper.
