On 20th July 2024, the event Firesong for the bees, a tree of clay – the eponymous title of Mariana Castillo Deball’s sculptural installation for the Bruges Triennial: Spaces of Possibility –took place in Sebrechtspark. Set next to Deball’s sculpture, which combines ceramics with a colony of bees, Borioli and Deball discussed the history of apiculture traditions to the present day.
The conversation began with an introduction by the Triennial’s co-curator Sevie Tsampalla.
HIVES, 2400 B.C.E. – 1852 C.E. was a source of inspiration Deball’s artwork in Bruges. Thanks for the invitation!
